NFPA Appoints Manager of International Business Development

QUINCY, Mass. — The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recently named Fernando Escalante its new manager of international business development for Latin America. In this role, Escalante will oversee NFPA efforts to expand its presence and partnerships throughout the region, strengthening engagement with key stakeholders in the fire, electrical, and life safety sectors.

Escalante, an electrical engineer, brings his “extensive experience in business development, sales and customer experience across Latin America” to his role, according to the association announcement. Before joining NFPA, he held several leadership positions for nearly two decades with Schneider Electric, managing regional projects and driving business growth through strategic partnerships.

He also served as an instructor for NFPA 70, National Electrical Code, demonstrating a deep understanding of NFPA standards and their implementation across industries.

With a master’s degrees in both business administration and customer experience management, Escalante “has a strong track record in account development, distributor business management and customer engagement strategies,” according to the NFPA announcement. His expertise spans multiple sectors, including construction, industrial, commercial, healthcare and utilities.

“Fernando’s extensive industry knowledge and leadership in the Latin American market will be instrumental in advancing the NFPA mission,” says Olga Caledonia, director of international business development at NFPA, in the association announcement. “We are excited to have him lead our international business development efforts in the region, helping to foster collaboration and drive the use of NFPA standards and resources.”

Escalante is based in Costa Rica, and will work with government agencies, industry associations and private sector partners “to enhance safety standards and training initiatives across Latin America,” the announcement says.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to bring my years of leadership and business experience to NFPA, an organization that plays such a critical role in enhancing safety worldwide,” says Escalante in the NFPA announcement. “I look forward to working with industry leaders and stakeholders across Latin America to strengthen fire, electrical and life safety in the region.”
